West Pasaman Earthquake 2022

FINAL REPORT - ALUMNI DONATIONS AFTER THE WEST PASAMAN EARTHQUAKE FEB, 2022
On Friday morning, February 25, 2022, at 8:39 am local time, the West Pasaman region and surrounding areas were rocked by a magnitude-6.2 earthquake. Friday’s epicenter was located 12 kilometers northeast of West Pasaman, West Sumatra.

As of Feb. 26, the national disaster mitigation agency (BNPB) said that 6,002 people had been evacuated, 8 died, 10 severely injured, and 76 lightly wounded.

Serious damages were experienced close to our previous station Sukamenanti. Even loss of lives were reported. The office of the Bupati, where we were received almost three years ago, was also damaged.

Wolfram Hiemann and Dieter Speidel supported by other Alumni decided to support those who were affected most by the earthquake and had lost their home and property. Luckily there were same reserve funds left from our visit to West Pasaman.

After consultations with Ibu Tina Musa and the local NGO BMT - ISDA it was agreed to use these funds for first relief measures on behalf of the ADP/Ophir Alumni members. Pak Hiemann transfered  the funds to the NGO bank account in Ujung Gading asap.

As these funds were not sufficient to cover the most pressing needs the ADP ALUMNI members were asked to come forward with additional voluntary contributions.

Today, we present the final report of BMT - ISDA on the collected donations and the way they were used in the little hamlet Timboahu, a village that was most adversely affected by the earthquake.

Overall an amount of 51.024.500 Rp. has been donated by ADP/Ophir Alumni and private donators.

Terima kasih to all of you!
